The Vauxhall Vivaro Sportive model will however receive a number of significant enhancements that will bring it alongside the Renault Trafic Sport with the addition of;

and the leather steering wheel will be deleted as standard but available as an option with cruise control.

These changes became effective from June 2010 production.

The additional cost for all of these goodies is only £250 more than the previous model Vauxhall Vivaro Sportive. The Renault Trafic only has the TomTom Satellite Navigation system over the Vauxhall Vivaro. We think that many customers already have their own SatNav or would prefer to choose a system personal to their tastes.

Running costs are critical to both van fleet managers and private customers alike and Vauxhall's Vivaro has proven itself as the out-and-out champ in terms of van fuel economy by winning the commercial vehicle category of the 2009 Fleetworld /ALD MPG marathon.

The British-built van achieved an overall figure of 55.25mpg on the 360-mile drive. This represents an improvement of 60.6% over the van's official combined economy figure of 34.4mpg and proves that a smooth and careful approach to driving can pay huge dividends to drivers looking to cut their costs.

The winning van was a Vauxhall Vivaro 2.0CDTi 115PS SWB, the most popular of the Luton-built models.

"I knew that by keeping the Vivaro within its peak torque curve and by reading the road ahead we stood a good chance," said Andrew. "But to achieve a 60 per cent improvement really shows that van drivers can achieve superb results by applying a responsible approach to their driving."

It has won its category in the marathon before but the figure of 55mpg is the best ever achieved by a Vauxhall Vivaro on the event - comprehensively beating rivals including a Ford Transit and Mercedes Vito.

Vauxhall Vivaro wins Best Medium Van category for seventh time

The Vauxhall Vivaro has once again seen off all competition and claimed the top award for Best Medium Van at the 2009 Van Fleet World Awards.

The awards are now in their tenth year which makes the Vauxhall Vivaro the most successful winner in its class having won the Best Medium Van title no less than seven times in addition to the Best New Van Award following its launch in 2001.

Vivaro remains a good van to drive with quiet engines and a fine balance of ride and handling either empty or fully loaded. The engine range includes 90PS or 115PS 2.0-litre common-rail diesel as well as a 2.5-litre 146PS common-rail diesel engine. Both the 2.0CDTI 115PS and 2.5CDTI are available with the semi-automatic six-speed Tecshift gearbox.
